Hacia una educación equitativa en ciencias de la computación

Towards equitable computer science education

Resumen

En la actualidad, la equidad de acceso a la educación en ciencias de la computación representa un desafío: la educación en ciencias de la computación es indispensable para la participación activa en un mundo computacional, pero las iniciativas actuales tienden a aumentar las brechas existentes por factores culturales, socioeconómicos y del contexto.  Este artículo propone un modelo para la educación equitativa en computación que aporte a la reducción de estas brechas, mediante tres estrategias principales: (I) Investigar cómo aprende los estudiantes en contextos particulares; (II) Generar capacidad en docentes para enseñar computación a través de programas de desarrollo profesional, mientras investigamos cómo aprenden los y las docentes, y cómo logran (o no) llevarlo al aula; y (III) Diseñar dispositivos accesibles para la enseñanza de la computación. Esta accesibilidad incluye dispositivos que sean de bajo costo, pero que también ser versátiles, en cuanto a su apariencia, las formas de interacción, y los conceptos que permitan enseñar. Este artículo describe el modelo para la educación equitativa en computación, y muestra un caso de estudio para cada una de las estrategias.
